Composite prox cards are made from a blend of PVC and polyester, instead of the straight PVC of a standard prox card. This makes the cards more durable and ideal for laminating because they can withstand higher heat.

Despite their different material, composite cards are still the same CR80 size and 30mil thickness of standard cards.

Benefits of Composite Cards

The materials that make up composite cards are 40% PVC and 60% polyester, very different from PVC cards. The addition of polyester allows to the card to withstand higher temperatures without bending or warping.

This makes composite cards ideal for use in reverse transfer ID card printers or laminating printers – both technologies apply high heat to the cards and can warp a PVC card.
